Celebrated for its golden sun, turquoise waters and gently swaying palm trees, the Caribbean is also home to one of the world's oldest spirits: rum. For centuries production has flourished among the myriad of islands, creating a nuanced palate of aromas and styles unique to each location and each distillery. Each MEZAN vintage rum comes from a single distillery and rests at least 10 years before being bottled. Crafted in Panama, the distillery grows its own cane for the production of both aguardiente and rum and also cultivates historical yeast cultures which add character and individuality. The rums in this small batch have been aged twice in separate sets of white oak American Bourbon casks, to give added structure to the spirit. Orange notes with a little cinnamon and coconut. Light estery tones with some dried fig and a back note of fresh sap wood. Well structured spiced oak with nutmeg and tropical fruit. Hints of ginger and a delightful zingy sweetness on the finish.
