Luigi Pira's Barolo Marenca DOCG is sourced from 2 hectares of Nebbiolo located in Serralunga d'Alba with a western exposure in a calcareous-clayish soil. The vines were re-planted in 1990 and produce grapes that give a powerful Barolo with typical features. Matured for over 24 months, partly in small wooden barrels and partly in large wooden barrels, the Marenca Cru Barolo is an intense garnet red in colour displaying fresh aromas, with complex perfumes that range from wild berries to vanilla, chocolate and aromatic herbs. On the palate it is very vigorous, rich in extracts, with lively and pleasant tannins that are rounded through a skilful use of wood.
